American actor and rapper Earl Simmons, born December 18, 1970, and passed away April 9, 2021. He began his rap career in the beginning of the 1990s. He released his debut album , It's Dark and Hell is Hot in 1998, which received both critical acclaim and commercial success. It sold 251,000 copies in the first week of release. [5][65][6] DMX released his best-selling album, ... And Then There was X, in 1999. The album included the hit track "Party Up (Up in Here)". His singles from 2003, "Where is the Hood At?" Commercially as well as his 2003 singles "Where the Hood At?" and "X Gon"Give It to Ya" were also very success. He was the first artist in history to make an album debut that reached No.1 in the Billboard 200 charts five times consecutively. 7. DMX has sold over 74 million records across the globe. 8. In 2006, he played in the reality television series DMX: Soul of a Man which was airing on the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. In 2003, he published an autobiography called E.A.R.L. : The Autobiography of DMX. [9] DMX got his start in the music industry at 14, in 1984, when he beatboxed with Ready Ron. After spending time in prison for taking a dog, it was then that he began writing his own lyrics and performing at the local recreation center, which was for younger youngsters. In 1988, while in prison for carjacking he began dedicating almost all of his free time to writing lyrics , as well as meeting with K-Solo and rapping. He was released in the summer of 1988 and started to create and sell his own mixtapes. In these mixtapes he rapped over songs from other artists and sold them on street corners. This helped him develop a local fanbase all across New York. Percee P and DMX both performed freestyles on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show, 1991. Jay-Z, Ja Rule and Mic Geronimo made a joint appearance on "Time to build", the iconic underground track. DMX died in 2021 after a cocaine-induced heart attack.
